Beautiful weapon. The edge is sharp and thin, for cutting. Is the blade made from tempered steel? If that be the case, this would be a very formidable device in the hands of an experienced swordsman.
The weight, balance and size of the weapon look as though they are attuned with speed and cutting power in mind. Fighting with this device would probably suited to a fencer.
If not for combat - this also makes for an exceptionally cool show weapon. The design and craftsmanship are superlative - while I've always had a passion for straight, double edged blades with cruciform hilts. In fact, this design is my favorite classification of sword.
I love blades - I love swords, and I love to fight.
Yep, it's been properly heat treated. All my swords by default are sharp and meant to be used by practitioners unless requested as blunts for stage actors or training. A sword has to be a weapon to be a sword, after all
That's a mean guard- it could serve quite well at puncturing armor. I love the shape of the blade- not only does the leaf shape make for an easier cut and thrust, but the indented ricasso allows for a firmer grip on it. The pommel is beautifully done as well. This is a wonderful sword!
